Mathieu Delranc
A photographer and maker based in Provence, I turn my own images into works on canvas and finish each one myself in my studio. I come from a family of painters: my grandfather, my uncle and my mother painted before me, and I grew up surrounded by canvases and brushwork.
From photograph to artwork
- 01I start from one of my own original photographs.
- 02I rework it digitally for a painterly rendering, without changing the subject or adding anything that was not there.
- 03The image is printed on a matte canvas.
- 04I then raise selected areas of relief by hand with a clear texture gel.
- 05I apply a satin finish, then sign and number the piece.
Every canvas therefore begins with my photograph, is interpreted digitally and finished by hand.
