Photographs turned into works on canvas, hand-finished.

Each work begins with an original photograph by Mathieu Delranc, interpreted in a painterly language, printed on canvas, then hand-finished with texture gel and protected by a satin finish.

Manifesto

It always starts with a way of looking: southern light, a façade, a ridge, a canal at sundown. The photograph is taken on the spot, then worked on at length.

The painterly interpretation does not imitate old master painting. It looks for matter, grain, the vibration of a landscape as memory keeps it.

Nothing is added to the original frame. What changes is the texture: the hand returns to the canvas, relief after relief.

The collection

Ten works, each issued in signed and numbered copies, in four proportional formats.

The atelier process

Original photograph, painterly interpretation. The image is printed on a matte canvas, then finished by hand in the atelier. Signature and certificate. Nothing hidden: transparency is the value.

Understand the process
  1. 01

    1. Original photograph

An image taken by Mathieu Delranc, chosen for its light and composition. The chosen framing will never be altered.

  2. 02

    2. Painterly interpretation

The image is deeply reworked towards a painterly language: matter, brushwork, values, the density of skies.

  3. 03

    3. Printing on canvas

The image is printed on a matte canvas, then finished by hand in the atelier. The pigment inks are chosen for their stability and depth.

  4. 04

    4. Hand finishing

Worked by hand with texture gel to give relief to skies, foliage and stone. Each copy becomes unique through its matter.

  5. 05

    5. Satin finish

A satin protection evens out the surface, protects the painted layer and softens reflections.

  6. 06

    6. Signature and certificate

Hand signature, numbering within the edition, and a certificate detailing title, format and process.

Commissioned work

Your place, become a work

Beyond the collection, a place that matters to you can become a work: you describe it, I come and photograph it, then the canvas is finished by hand in the studio.

Propose a place

Mathieu Delranc

A photographer and maker based in Provence, close to the Alpilles, a land he holds dear, Mathieu Delranc looks at landscape, architecture and southern light as a single subject in motion.

His images come from walking, waiting and returning to the same place, at the hour when the light finally answers.
